This is Balu, a salamander-essque alien I've designed for my semester long course. As I studied and practiced using new software, I've add more and more to this character until he was fully fleshed out at the end of the course. I've modeled his body and armor in ZBrush, retopologized him in Maya for textures, then textured, baked, and rendered him out in Substance Painter. Photoshop was used to create the presentation pages.
